However, I found that "Auto list members" and "Parameter information" were unchecked. These features help you to learn more about the code you are using, keep track of the parameters you are typing, and add calls to properties and methods with only a few keystrokes. When you use remote database with low transfer connection (for example I connected from Europe to far Asia's office server) and when the database's structure is not small (for example many tables) then it takes much more time for SSMS to complete all Intelli Sense data.In my case I had to wait over 1 minute to have Intelli Sense accessible (slow connection and db with about 1000 tables).
As I read more and more through the Service Manager Forum questions, I've come to realize that many folks out there have little to no knowledge of SQL and how to actually use it to build out some of the custom reports they require. Most of the comments I read from people state they are not DBAs and there is no $ in the budget to pay for one.At first, everything seemed to be going great, until I noticed that Intelli Sense is intermittent. So by intermittent I mean that sometimes I see the list of tables, and sometimes I don't.By "intermittent" I mean that on the same computer, while working on the same script, Intelli Sense might appear some times and not appear at other times. This just a specific example of how the symptom manifests. I mean that whenever I expect Intellisense to appear, it doesn't always appear. Our remote SQL Server was recently upgraded to 2014.
I installed SQL Server Management Studio 2014 on my Windows 10 client computer. Suppose I'm typing The moment I type the period, I expect Intelli Sense to list the available tables, as it always does.
You can download SSMS 2016 from https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt238290
I've personally found Intelli Sense to work more reliably with SSMS 2016 than what I was used to with 2014, especially when working over slower or less reliable network connections.
